Which one should I buy?

Get the A1 ($399) unless you're sure 180mm is enough. The $100 difference buys meaningful extra build volume.

A1

  • 42% larger build volume (256mm vs 180mm), fits helmets, larger props, and functional parts
  • Standard Bambu build volume, same as P1S and X1C, easier to scale projects
  • Only $100 more, strong value for the extra capacity
  • Better suited for small-batch production runs

A1 Mini

  • $100 cheaper, best entry price in the Bambu lineup
  • Smaller footprint, fits more easily on a compact desk
  • Ideal for miniatures, figurines, and small daily prints
  • Lighter and easier to move or transport

The real difference: build volume

The A1 and A1 Mini share the same print head, the same calibration system, the same nozzle design, and the same AMS Lite compatibility. Print quality and speed are identical. The only functional difference is the build plate size: 256mm³ on the A1 vs 180mm³ on the A1 Mini.

That 30% size reduction matters a lot for certain projects and not at all for others.

Get the A1 if...

  • You print objects larger than 180mm in any dimension
  • You want the standard Bambu build volume (same as P1S/X1C)
  • You're planning to use it for small-scale production
  • You're not sure what you'll print: more room is rarely a problem

Get the A1 Mini if...

  • You primarily print miniatures, small figurines, or small parts
  • You have limited desk space
  • $100 is a meaningful difference to you
  • It's your first 3D printer and you want the most affordable Bambu entry point

If you're genuinely on the fence, get the A1. You'll never regret having more build volume. Plenty of people have regretted not having enough, and upgraded from the Mini to the A1 within a year of buying.

Both printers include: full auto-calibration, magnetic flexible build plate, filament runout sensor, power loss recovery, Wi-Fi + Bambu Studio / Handy integration, and AMS Lite compatibility for 4-color printing.
