Which one should I buy?

The P1S ($699) for nearly all buyers. The X1E is an enterprise machine for PA-CF and PC production. It costs 2.4× more and serves a completely different purpose.

P1S

  • 2.4× cheaper at $699, handles PLA, PETG, ABS, and ASA for a fraction of the X1E's cost
  • Full enclosure with HEPA + carbon filter, sufficient filtration for consumer ABS/ASA printing
  • Full AMS compatible, same multi-color ecosystem as the X1E
  • Excellent fit for hobbyists, makers, and small businesses not requiring engineering materials

X1E

  • Active 60°C chamber heating, unlocks PA-CF, PC, and PPS that the P1S passive enclosure cannot reach
  • Fully sealed dry filament path, prevents mid-print moisture absorption in Nylon and PA-CF
  • Industrial-grade HEPA + VOC filtration, exceeds workplace health and safety requirements
  • Enterprise fleet management and hardened motion system, built for production-scale operations

The P1S handles PLA, PETG, TPU, ABS, and ASA well, covering the vast majority of consumer and small-business use cases. The X1E's 60°C active chamber unlocks PA-CF, PC, and PPS. These materials need consistently high chamber temperatures; the P1S passive enclosure reaches ~40–45°C, not enough for PA-CF or PC at production quality.

The X1E also includes a fully enclosed dry filament path. Nylon and PA-CF absorb moisture within hours of being opened. The sealed filament path prevents this mid-print, critical for consistent results with hygroscopic engineering materials.

P1S is enough if...

  • PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA cover your material needs
  • You're not running production-volume engineering parts
  • You're a hobbyist, maker, or small business
  • Budget matters

X1E makes sense if...

  • You need PA-CF, PC, or PPS parts
  • You're running an engineering department or print farm
  • Workplace VOC/particle filtration is a requirement
  • You need enterprise fleet management
