Which one should I buy?

Quick answer: At list prices the P2S wins outright: newer, faster, cheaper. But Bambu's current open-ended discount sells the P1S at $399, which makes it $150 cheaper than the P2S. Today the P1S is the value pick and the P2S the performance pick. Get the P1S if you find it deeply discounted secondhand or on clearance; there is no reason to buy a P1S at full price when the P2S exists.

The P2S is the successor, not a sidegrade

Bambu released the P2S as a direct replacement for the P1S: it prints faster with a more capable AMS system, and at list price it even costs less. The current market changes the math, though: Bambu's open-ended discount puts the P1S at $399, $150 under the P2S, so today the P1S is the budget buy and the P2S the performance buy. If the discount ever ends, the P2S wins outright again.

Both printers share the same build volume and enclosure philosophy. Neither has Lidar, that's an X1C feature. If you need Lidar, step up to the X1C or consider the H2S for engineering materials.

Get the P1S if...

  • You find it significantly discounted (secondhand or clearance)
  • You already own full AMS units and want to keep compatibility
  • Someone is giving it to you

Get the P2S if...

  • You're buying new, there's no reason not to
  • You want the best enclosed mid-range Bambu printer
  • You want AMS 2.0's improved reliability
  • You want faster prints and longer platform support

The used market has been overtaken by Bambu itself: a new P1S currently costs $399 with warranty under the open-ended discount, so used units only make sense well under $300. If the discount ends and the P1S returns to $699, the P2S wins every time again.
