The P2S replaced the P1S, and does it better, for less money
Get the P2S ($549). Better specs, lower price. There is no reason to buy a P1S at full price when the P2S exists.

Bambu released the P2S as a direct replacement for the P1S. It costs less and prints faster with a more capable AMS system. The only scenario where a P1S makes sense is if you find one deeply discounted secondhand or as clearance.
Both printers share the same build volume and enclosure philosophy. Neither has Lidar, that's an X1C feature. If you need Lidar, step up to the X1C or consider the H2S for engineering materials.
If you can find a used P1S for under $400, it's a reasonable buy. At that price you're essentially getting P2S-class capability at a deep discount. But at full retail, the P2S wins every time. Don't let nostalgia or brand familiarity push you toward an older, pricier machine.
